BoarBetter provides boar pheromones to stimulate heat behaviour in oestrus sows.

Can be used alone, without any boar, or in combination with a boar to enhance the exposure to boar pheromones. For good results, start the application of BoarBetter at the beginning of oestrus, generally at day 3-4 post weaning.

BoarBetter spray is a management tool for heat detection in breeding female swine. This product was developed to mimic the three naturally ocurring pheromones found in boar saliva (quinoline, androstenone and androstenol). It contains a solution of three synthetic pheromone molecules blended in a unique combination referred to as Boar Saliva Analogue (BSA is the active ingredient in BoarBetter), that is subject to patent application and/or patent. It contains no animal products.

Boar pheromones are responsible for the "boar odour" and this product can reduce the need to maintain live boars that assist in identifying sows in oestrus. Laboratory and field studies confirm that the  combination of compounds in BSA results in a synergistic benefit. This innovative  combination can maximize the  breeding female's mating behaviour response, helping to reach maximum reproductive performance.

  • Spray 4 ml of BoarBetter onto the female's snout (directly towards the nostrils) prior to heat checking.

Apply back pressure test to check for signs of standing oestrus.

If using conventional artificial insemination, breed the female if she is in standing heat, following the farm protocol.

If using PCAI (post cervical artificial insemination), wait to breed 30-60 minutes according  to the farm PCAI breeding protocol.

If female is not in oestrus, repeat administration of the product until oestrus behaviour sings occur, following the heat detection farm protocol.
